Count on the Best Resin Driveway Specialists in Town

When it comes to turning a house into a home, outdoor décor is just as important as indoor décor. A well-maintained garden with flowers and ornaments will enhance your mood in a different way than a messy garden full of weeds. And these are not the only details that matter.

Here at Resin Driveway Specialists we help our customers design and install the resin driveway paths that fit their courtyards perfectly. We’re a driveway company with over 15 years of experience in the industry and we have delivered installations for companies, local authorities and residential properties all over the U.K.

Our dedicates specialists have extensive expertise and knowledge regarding resin surfacing and will always provide the best solution for your needs. Whether you’re looking for a resin bonded or a resin bound driveway, we’re here to recommend you the best solution with high-quality materials.

Why Should You Choose Resin?

We have been working with resin for over 15 years and we are certain there are not enough people who know of, use or harvest the power of resin at its full potential. Besides its modern, yet cosy appearance, resin comes with tremendous benefits, some of which outclass traditional materials.

Our solutions are based on high-quality resin, which is aesthetically pleasing, easy to install, and eco-friendly. Additionally, a resin driveway is more durable than concrete or tarmac all while withstanding traffic just as heavy. For this reason and many others, resin might become one of the materials of the future.

Why should you consider resin bound or resin bonded paving?

  • It’s easy to install and cost-effective
  • It’s durable and flexible, with a lifespan that exceeds 25 years
  • It withholds heavy traffic, such as busses
  • It hardens quickly and can be walked on after 6-12 hours after the installation
  • It’s eco-friendly
  • It doesn’t allow weeds to break through the surface, as it happens with concrete, tarmac, or stone
  • It’s permeable and SUD’s compliant, which means you will not need planning permission to install it
  • It comes in a wide range of colours, which makes it easier to choose the option that blends with the rest of your décor
  • It requires low maintenance (occasional sweeping, can be washed with mild detergent if needed, hardly stains)
  • Because we use the highest quality UV-stable resin, your porch, driveway or patio will not wear out even when exposed to heavy sunlight

And these are just a couple of technical advantages that make resin one of the best materials to work with. Additionally, the resin aspect is clearly more aesthetically pleasing than the one of the traditional materials. But let’s see what are the practical options you have when it comes to resin installations.

Resin Bound Versus Resin Bonded Driveways

If it’s time to upgrade your outdoor décor but you haven’t decided on the best driveway solution, we’re happy to share from our experience and help you make the decision that will give you peace of mind. Now let’s delve deeper and explain what resin bound and resin bonded driveways actually are, and how they can enhance your courtyard.

Although they sound alike and are very similar in nature, there still are a lot of differences between resin bound and resin bonded surfaces. First of all, their surface is different and this is helpful especially considering the area that you want to cover. For instance, a resin bound surface is more glossy and smooth, whereas its bonded counterpart has a rougher appearance and makes the perfect permanent anti-slip mat.  But how does each work and when should you install one over the other?

Resin Bound Driveways

For this particular solution, the mix between the resin and the aggregate happens before it’s applied to the base. The main properties of this type of installation are flexibility, durability, easy maintenance, and permeability. A resin bound installation is SUDs compliant, which means it respects all the regulations for drainage systems and has a minimal environmental impact.

Because the entire process is very easy and doesn’t require advanced knowledge or experience in the field, we recommend SUDwell™ DIY Resin Bound Kits that you can install yourself. These work best for smaller works but if you’re familiar with how the installation works, you can take up the challenge of fixing it on larger areas and reap the rewards of having done an amazing job yourself.

Resin Bonded Paths

Although the components are the same for a resin bound installation, the process of creating a resin bonded surface is different, and so are its properties. In this case, the mix is created directly on the surface. Therefore, the permeability of the end result is not as high as for bound installations.

For this, you need to clear out the surface and ensure it is free of grease, standing water or loose material. Otherwise, the installation will not adhere perfectly and its durability and permeability might be severely affected. Then, you add the base that will keep the resin gravel in place and scatter the stone evenly on the surface.

To make sure everything bonds correctly and the end result is as aesthetically pleasing as you planned, do not walk on the surface for the next couple of hours. The last step is to check if the installation cured and to remove all loose stone that did not bond. Ideally, there should not be any white areas but only excessive resin gravel. The average depth for a resistant, yet permeable installation should be 3-4 mm after you remove the excess. The final look will be more rough and natural, making it ideal for the patio or porch.

One paramount thing you need to consider before deciding on one installation over the other is the surface you want to cover. An uneven surface will not make a great base for resin bonded installations, as in this case the resin is simply added on top of and follows the shape of the terrain. On the other hand, bound installations are the ideal solution to levelling such ground, because the mixture is more fluid and while the bottom layer will contain the bumps and cracks, the surface will appear even.

DIY Resin Bound Kits

One of the simplest and cost-effective ways to install a new resin driveway or path is by using a DIY Resin Bound Kit. It doesn’t require much time, effort or previous experience and the feeling of having installed it yourself will definitely contribute to turning your house into a home.

Here at the Resin Driveway Specialists, we use SUDwell™ Resin Bound Kits, which use advanced technology and are fully compliant with all the regulations imposed by the Sustainable Urban Drainage system.

Because each kit contains the perfect ration between aggregate and resin to make sure the end result is as sharp as you planned it to be. For this reason, these kits have also been well-received by professionals and builders who install such drives. Because they didn’t have to waste time calibrating how much of each component should be added to the mix, the working time got cut down considerably, to their customers’ and their own benefit.

One kit covers 1 square metre at a up to a 15 mm depth so that you can easily estimate how much material you will need for your project. The kits are easy to use but we also offer free demo videos to all of our customers so the experience can be even more enjoyable.

If you’re thinking about renovating your courtyard and installing a resin bound path by yourself, here is what you should do:

  1. Measure the area that you want to cover
  2. Determine how many kits your project requires
  3. Decide on the colour or colours you want to use
  4. Place your order
